Tara & I are really lucky to live a drive away from eachother & also really lucky that our daughters are 12 days apart! Its so fun to watch them grow together & to have a sounding board for the stages we are going through. Earlier this month Makenna & I went to their place & we even got to meet Tara's newest little one, Emily. {Who really deserves her own page, it's on my to do list!}

Emily's Quilt

I'm so excited! Yesterday Emily's fabric came in the mail. I order it from ETSY from a shop called Lily Bella Fabrics. The service was GREAT and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Thanks Christy :) Last year I made a quilt for Addison for her first birthday. This was my first attempted at sewing. I've always wanted to make a quilt but didn't know where to start. I have to give a BIG THANKS! to my friend Lisa for all her help. I couldn't have done it with out her :) So when I decided to make a quilt for Addison I looked high and low for the perfect fabric ... I fell in love with a fabric called Girl Friday by Cosmo Cricket. When I was pregnant with Emily I decided to start searching for the fabric for her baby quilt. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I search ETSY pretty frequently for fabric and just about a week ago I fell in love with a fabric by Kate Spain. It was perfect. Emily's colours in her room are purple and blue with a hint of green so this fabric was a great match. It was an added bonus that the name of the fabric is called "Central Park" My husband and I just LOVE New York City! I guess it was meant to be :) I've posted a picture of Addison's quit and the fabric for Emily's quilt. Even though this is not a scrapbooking post, you can use the colours in the fabric to inspire a layout. Enjoy the rest of your week. I'll be back soon with an all new Copy Cat Challenge. -Tara

Recent Shutterfly Prints

Towards the end of last year i did some printing using Shutterfly. I have always been really happy with the results i have gotten with them so i have just stuck with them for all my page printing. However i am wondering where your go to place is to print?

I thought i would share some photos from these recent books. The books that we have are accessible to the kids & i encourage them to look through them. They love flipping through them & i love watching them enjoy them. (This is why we all scrapbook isn't it?)

Spencer already has two books printed for him, this being his third book & the largest! It is 12x12 and to the max at 101 pages. Would you be shocked if i told you i still have 24 more pages to print?

One of my goals this year is to print more ... i haven't printed any pages for Makenna yet, just a few are ready to print(acckkk 116!) I have all of my 365 pages, all of my All About Kayleigh pages, the friends and family pages & the Family Fall book + Smiles photobook i made last year hasn't been printed for us yet.

I thought i would also talk about how i keep my pages stored on my computer to keep them organized. I have the following folders set up: Both Kids, Makenna's Book, Spencers Book, Project 365, Friend and Family Book, Kayleigh's Book. Within each of these folders are the PSD folders & the jpg that i upload to my gallery at Designer Digitals. There is also a folder called LG JPGS that i place a full size 12x12 jpg of the completed page. I use this jpg to upload to Shutterfly where i have the same folders set up for my pages there. Once it is uploaded then i move it to another folder. Doing this is peace of mind for me knowing that the jpg is there in case i were to loose everything.

So what system is working for you? Where do you print? Are you like me & scrap lots, need to print more?

Creative Challenge #61

Good Evening Everyone. So sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, but we just added our new addition to our Family. Emily was born January 15th. My due date was today, but she decided to come early. I'm pretty sure me getting the flu was the cause of that. With Valentine's Day just around the corner I wanted to do a page all about LOVE :) So just the other day we took this fun little photo. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. Today's Creative Challenge is to take a fun photo showcasing love. It could be an object or the people that you love. Also make sure to incorporate the things listed below. Templates make life easier ...

Really they normally do. But bare with me while i share this story. I had the best intentions of scrapping my kids Christmas morning photos easily & quickly to just get them done ... this is what i ended up with.

I started with this template & added my photos for each kid into a separate page. I started scrapping Makennas page, I intended on dragging over all the elements & title. Then i started adding different stuff to Spencer's page. Then I couldn't make up my mind which direction I liked more. So I scrapped on and on ... ok for days really. So today i said today is the last day these pages are going to be open in Photoshop so i wrapped them up.

When i see each page side by side, i lean towards liking the look of Spencer's page more. I like the funky greens, the bright reds & the star brushwork that i just discovered tonight in my stash. On Makenna's page i like the texture of the background, the white brushwork & the metal star/bow cluster. I am so relieved that these photos are now scrapped, no one will care years from now that they both started with the same template.

But do you think anyone might notice that earlier that same year when we picked our Christmas Tree that page started with the same template?

A Photo A Day: 2011

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a FABULOUS Holiday Season. We had a great time and we loved watching Addison open up all her presents. Now that the new year has begun, I've started up my Photo A Day. As I posted last year, I was really sad that I didn't keep up with this project. I finished 4 months and that was it. I'm hoping this time around to actually finish and complete the whole year. Anyone else taking on this challenge? If so do you have a plan of action? Here are some of this year's photos. Our Year In Review

Happy New Year to each & everyone of you! Around our house it has been a crazy busy couple of weeks with lots happening. I am relived that we are done with holidays but am enjoying all the memories floating around in my head of the fun with family and friends and seeing the kids faces on Christmas morning.

So i was thinking to celebrate the new year we would celebrate some of our faves from twenty-ten.

Tara is up first ...

1. Your fave layout that you did this year.
I had a few pages that were my favorite, but when I had to narrow it down. It was this layout that win for my favorite layout of 2010. I love the colour combo, the use of brushes and of course the adorable photo of Addison. This layout is framed in Addison's room.

2. Your fave photo that you took.
This was hard. I have about 5 pictures that I found all equal to my favorite photo of 2010, but having to pick only one. I choose this one of Doug and Addison. All I can say is AWEEEEEEE!

3. Your fave product from DD.
Okay these questions get harder and harder as I move down the list. How can you just pick one. One thing I can say is I can't live with out brushes. With that being said. I love Katie's Stitching Holes, Watery Flakes, wings & blooms. Also looking back over my 2010 layouts I couldn't live without her screws in the hinge pack.

4. Your fave food from the year.
Nothing really pops into my head. Maybe that's because I've been pregnant for the most of the year and my taste buds have been a little off. I always LOVE Pizza :) or of course SUGAR LOL!

5. Do you have a scrapping goal for 2011?
My goals for 2011 is to try to find the time to scrap and balance my time between my toddler and my new baby to come. I would also like to finish Addison 1st year album. Fingers Crossed :)

6. Something that you are inspired by...
The number one thing that inspires me to scrap is seeing all the beautiful layouts in the galleries. I also get inspired by
my photos and all the gorgeous products that the designers make.

7. Your fave font from this year.
I love fonts and have a ton on my computer. The three fonts i would say I've used the most in 2010 would be Arial Black,
Travelling Typewriter, Pea Amy Rica Script and Stalker 2 okay okay that's four :)

And now it is my turn!
1. Your fave layout that you did this year.

i love that it is so fun & has some whimsical touches & a fun mix of papers too. The colour scheme was unusual for me & yet i ended up loving it!

2. Your fave photo that you took.
Makennas with her blue eyes.

3. Your fave product from DD.

I love the bows in this kit like no other bow i have ever seen! Those flowers are super fun as well, plus those fun whimsy elements are wonderful. I go to this element pack many times!

4. Your fave food from the year.
Coffee ... i know this is not a food. But after so many years (approx. 4) of being pregnant + nursing and now being able to enjoy as much coffee as i want in a day is heavenly.

5. Do you have a scrapping goal for 2011?
Print ... i have hundreds of pages to print & need to get these out into 'real life' for my family to enjoy. I created a fall book of our family and gave as gifts but have yet to print out our own copy.

6. Something that you are inspired by.
Love this quote & the boldness of the typography. Plus that clipboard is super cute. Maybe i might use this quote on a scrapbook page, use it as inspiration to create my own poster. Or just hit Add to Cart.

7. Your fave font from this year.

Good Afternoon! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. It's been busy at work and at home. I've been doing my Christmas Cards, Cleaning House, Decorating, Baking, Shopping, Wrapping and getting ready for baby number 2 :) There is never enough time in the day to get everything done. Todays Gallery Inspiration, I wanted to focus on Daily December Pages. For the last three years since I've seen Ali Edwards Daily December Books I've so wanted to do one, but so far have never gotten around to doing it :( I'm hoping to do one next year, it's on my list to do. Creative Challenge #60

Things are busy these days as i am sure they are with you all as well. My husband is wrapping up his first semester at college next week, shopping is underway, our tree is up & decorated, cottage book that i was working on is ordered & on its way. Its amazing how much time it took me to complete this book (about 3 weeks or so). I love the way it turned out & can't wait for our family to see it. However my father in law (who is such a sneak!) took a peek at my gallery over at Designer Digitals to see the pages. Even though we made a deal that i would post some of the pages & they would not look. I told them that if i did a page non cottage related then i would send the link to them. Anyways it should be here next week & i will show them the whole book. Here is the book if you want to see it!

Creative Challenge #59

It's FRIDAY! YAY! Today I bring you a brand NEW Creative Challenge, It's been a while so I thought it was time we did one. This challenge I'm going to give you a list of things you need to incorporate into your layout. The fist thing on the list is that you have to use a black or white background. Now when creating your layout, if you start out with white background, try changing it to black and see which one you like better. As you see below I have created my page with both backgrounds, now I'm not sure which one I like better. What to do you think white or black? I hope you guys have fun with this one. Grab Some Inspiration Challenge: Magazines!

For this challenge I encourage you to grab a magazine and begin your search for articles. Find a title or a subtitle that speaks to you and design your page around that! For this layout I opened up an old Today’s Parent and found an article with a subtitle: parenting the youngest. I then began to journal about my parenting thoughts on speech with my youngest. Hope this idea inspires you to create your next page!

Just wanted to pop in real quick & share some fun layouts today while the kids are sleeping.

How cool is this page by mugsbigsis? Totally genius is what this lady is. Her background texture matches the sweater in the photo.

This page by nath is such a fun page design & the use of patterned paper rocks here! I love the details she has added as well.

I love a tight design just like this one created by mi monteiro, lots of details in the design & the adorable photo shines here.

On this page by mom2peanuts, i love the layers of paper & the placement of them below the elements. I also love the contrast of the background to the rest of the page.

Mmmm coffee ... maybe i might have time to squeeze in a cup before the kids wake up. What i love about this page is how she filled these frames ... so interesting nevache!

I love the idea of making circles cut out of your background like Hanazana did here & how stinking cute are those tall chicks!?

Life in our household has been really busy these days with my husband being best man in a wedding and i have had lots of exciting stuff happening scrapwise that i wanted to share with you guys. Ahhhh i am freaking out & pinching myself that these opportunities for personal growth are being put in front of me. So thank you for reading on as i 'Toot' so to speak about my fun projects!

Titles Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box!

First Challenge!

Firstly I want to say thank you for having me on the Creative Inspiration Blog. I am so excited to be posting here and expressing my creative side through challenges. For my first challenge I wanted to focus on thinking outside the box in regards to titles. Somedays I adore simple titles while other days I’m boggled with what creative, fun titles will suit my page better. So this week I challenge you to scrap a page, any page and when you are ready for the title, try to think outside the box and come up with something that really describes your layout, whether others will understand or not…because hey, that’s what the journaling is for - to clarify and explain that crazy, fun title! Here is the page I created:

Colour Challenge No. 06

Happy Halloween! Things are a little low key as my elephant (spencer) & penguin (makenna) rest up for a big afternoon/evening of trick or treating. This is the first year that Spencer REALLY understands the whole concept & is so flipping excited! Makenna is just along for the ride. :)

So it has been awhile since we have run a colour challenge so i thought, hey today is the day. The colour scheme is not halloweeney at all ... but fun. Well i think so. :)

Sorry it has been so long since my last post ... lots of things going around here at our household. Some good, some crummy & some exciting!

Here are some pages i have fallen in love with recently!

This page by Lisa (lpate) to announce the birth of her adorable little man is amazing. Check out how she used a tag in one spot instead of a piece of paper, pretty cool eh? And the stitching ... well you all know i love it! I am so excited to watch this little man grow.

This page is a beautiful example of matching products with theme. By doing this Lori has not only reinforced her theme but helped to showcase her stunning photos. Makes me want to pick berries too ... next summer!

Amber is one of my all time favourite scrappers & when i saw this page in the gallery my jaw dropped. I love the details she has added to her page here - the scissors, the stitching (included the stitching on the frame she chose), the sewing machine, the measuring tape. Again all of these things help to re-enforce her theme perfectly! Hoping Amber is feeling inspired to do more pages about her as well. :)

Melissa is a friend of mine from highschool, we've been in eachothers weddings, waited anxiously while eachother were in labour & have hubby's who happen to be pretty great friends too! So the fact that she is diving into digital scrapbooking like she is makes my heart sing! The pages she is creating these days are beautiful and she has most definitely found her style. Clean, a bit perfectly placed details, amazing photography (which i may have taken advantage of once or twice!) and most importantly she is adding the words to her pages as well. Well done my friend!

Heidi is another friend i went to highschool with, so glad she saw my pages on facebook then started diving into digital + Designer Digitals. Her daughter Lana my Spencer are only a few days apart so it is really fun to get them together! On this page i love the softness that the taped photo masks add here. The layering of her stack of papers are such a nice detail here as well!

Crissy has such a way with creating a cool, vintage look to her scrapbook pages. She has such a knack for mixing up products for a one of kind look. I love the colours here with her great photos. Such a cool perspective on them isn't it?

Hello everyone! Today i bring you some inspiration with a new challenge for you to try.

- One photo
- Two pieces of patterned paper
- Three pieces of solid coloured paper
- Four word title (or a 4 letter title!)
- Five or more pieces of stitching
- Six or more staples

Here is my page that i did based on this challenge! My hubby went through a beard growing stage recently & said he wouldn't shave until he passed this first test (he started college in September). He was sad about shaving but a deal is a deal ... so i thought he deserved his own page to ease the pain.

Tara, Heidi, Melissa & I were able to get together a couple weeks back for some dinner+shopping on a friday evening. We had lots to chat about and had a blast. We took some photos outside the restaurant and we all scrapped them. I thought i would post them all here together to see all the differences and similarities! I'm so excited, and it turned out better than I thought it would. I just received my first Blurb Book in the mail today. I love the quality and the price was right. I made a book of all my Photo A Day pictures I took at the start of the year. I'm so sad that I didn't keep up with the project. After I got pregnant it was down hill from there. I will be starting back up the first of January and can't wait. I told my Husband he is going to have to help me out. If you haven't tried a Blurb Book, I think you should. I'm very happy with the results :) Here are some photos. My book is an 8 x 10 Hard Cover Image Wrap. Some pages have one photo up to three photos. - Tara

Here are some fun pages i found that i just love!

I am a huge fan of adding clocks into my pages and this page by digigal is so cool. I love how she showcased the clocks & the colours here are outstanding!

I love the brackets here with the bit of brushwork and perfectly placed paper/elements. Such a great family photo too! Awesome page Denise Gormish!

I am a huge fan of this scrappers layering with fun products and photos and this page is outstanding! Those photos are adorable & the titlework rocks! Love this Amy!

This photo just cracks me up - reminds me of my own battles with a couple toddlers in my household! Awesome page Faefester!

Random Stuff

OK this post is going to be filled with a whole lot of random stuff ... but it is all stuff that i happen to think is pretty cool at the moment.

This is the last page that entered my fave folder over in the Designer Digitals Gallery. It is a beautiful page showcasing an adorable nursery for her soon to arrive little guy. How cool is that alpha going around the room? Awesome page Lisa!

I don't even remember how i came across this posting as i get sidetracked from blog to blog of people i have no idea who they are but are so intrigued by their fantastic ideas and before you know it i have been surfing around for an hour! I am really into fall this year & would like to do a bit of fall decorating around the house. This idea is over the top amazing!

I have signed up for a class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking that Cathy Zielske is running called Me: The Abridged Version. I am really excited about focusing on telling some stories about me right now as the mom of two toddlers, a hubby who is just starting college, starting adventures of my own, scrapbooker, boo boo kisser, recent pilates quitter, spends a lot of time on the computer, pajama wearing all day kind of a woman. Because these stories will be important to my kids, my husband & me in the years to come. And next year there will more stories to tell that are different from now.

So my friends, class just started today. There is still time to sign up, September 22 to be exact so join in! Tell your story!

The other night my hubby & I were watching The Opener on the food network & realized the restaurant that they were showing is about an hour and 1/2 away from us. It is called Twisted Lemon This could make a really fun date night just driving out there for dinner. We use to drive all over the place {pre-kid stage in life} and this could be a really fun adventure. We just need to plan this at least 2 weeks in advance as they are super busy!

Anyways ... thats all i got for now, this only took about 45 minutes to do. I am off to scrap! :) - kayleigh

Just wanted to let you all know that i am hosting a colour chat over at Designer Digitals on September 11th at 3pm EST time for their next quarterly sale event. And here is my most recent page that i started this afternoon during Makenna's nap & wrapped it up tonight. I L*O*V*E this patterned paper that Michelle Martin is releasing this weekend. I flip flopped between quite a few papers with nothing looking right, then i saw this & instantly knew it was perfect. You guys are going to love this kit called Glorious Days! I love this polka dot alpha that comes in white, black & red. I chose the red & played with the hue/saturation slider in photoshop to change the colours for this fun effect.

These photos are from our time away recently, Makenna loved chasing the seaguls all over the place. I had a hard time capturing that perfect shot but am happy i caught her in a couple that i could put together on a page.

I started this page the other day and just got it wrapped up this morning - i was inspired by lots of pages that have been posted based on the AAM challenge at Designer Digitals. I love the idea of capturing your style!

I thought it would be fun to include my camera strap as well into my style as well! (I'm actually wearing that orange tshirt and the white tank top today with the jeans today!)

Creative Challenge #57

I mentioned in my post last night that i created a page with the photos of Spencer & my mom enjoying some creative time together. So i pulled a creative challenge for you out of my page ... see the inspiration in motion!?

* 3 points of orange
* 3 pieces of paper stacked up for the background
* part of your title must have tape on it
* word strips
* use this font called CK Becky
* the date of your photos

So many times i see pages that are missing a date & i often wonder how one would remember when looking back when the photos were taken. So my friends ... don't forget the date!!

My 3 points of orange are the flossy stitches, the word 'art' and the orange photo corner. I will even give you extra points for using a worn edge on you stack of 3 papers. (what? ... you didn't know i was giving out points did you?!)

Cottage Photos

We got back Thursday from a fun filled vacation at a family cottage on the lake so as i was going through the photos from our time away I thought i would share some of my favourite photos with you guys. Hope you enjoy!

We spent a bit of time on the beach, not nearly as much as i wanted to at all. Mother nature brought a lot of wind during our stay so being at the sheltered cottage was perfect.

My mom picked up these sunflowers on her way to the cottage for a mere 50 cents each. A small price to pay for beauty!!

Lately spencer grabs makenna by the hand and takes her to where he wants her to go whispering little messages to her showing her the world as he sees it.

My mom is famous for having lots of art supplies handy and spencer enjoyed every minute of discovery in grandma's special basket. i already scrapped some photos from this rock painting fun which i will share soon.

There is a hammock that proved to be a great spot for an afternoon snooze or a playful game of hide and seek while mom tried to get a photo. {hence the bluriness}

There is a lot of dirt around the cottage ... which leads to dirty feet of course!

Dirty feet land in the tub for a quick splash to rinse off. Baths were so much more fun in a new tub.

Spencer spotted this tiny green worm on the deck and got really close to talk to him. He kept saying that he had horns! Too cute!

Vacations are always nice for a break from the everyday cycle of home. But it was nice to be home to our own beds, routines, flushing when you need to, internet of course and talks about the next year. Spencer says on the way home 'hope lots of everybodies are there next year' ... me too little man. The more fun memories we can make the better. :)

Hi everyone! I'm just back from a friends cottage. It's nice to get away, but it's really nice being home again. Addison did really well. We were worried about her sleeping with all the noise at the cottage, but she slept through both nights. We are so proud of her! Tonight I bring you a GREAT layout to lift. My baby girl has HAIR, a lot of hair so I had to document a page about the struggles to get it tidy each day. My father in law got these photos while we were away back in July. (Got to love family that loves to help document the everyday!)

I thought it would be a good idea to start a new challenge about you. By no means am i re-inventing the wheel here. Do you ever wish that you could read info about your moms everyday while you were a kid? I do all the time. Even i love looking back at my own pages about me. If you are not already scraping you, you need to start. And you can start right now with this challenge.

There are lots of great challenges about you all over the place. Designer Digitals has a challenge that is bi-weekly called All About Me Challenge. And you can get a ton of inspiration with this amazing gallery All About Me Challenge.

Cathy Zielske is running a fun class called Me: The Abridged Version over a Big Picture Scrapbooking. Make sure to read about the class & perhaps jump in! Sounds like a great class to me!

I came across this blog called Suddenly Artistic with a posting that inspired this challenge. (thank you to Anna Aspnes and this blog posting of hers awhile ago. (Anna is from Designer Digitals and the creater of my fave stitching!)

Ok the challenge! I love capturing random thoughts and activities on a page. It's not something i do monthly but whenever the mojo leans that way i run with it. Here is the list of journaling prompts i used on my page. Feel free to change or mix-up the prompts to go with your flow.

I'll Take a Double-Double ...

That is what I take in my coffee at Tim Horton's but it can also refer to a double page scrapbook spread as well. I go through spurts with doing a double page spread. Sometimes the quantity of photos for a single event simply require a matching page because they just can't all fit on a singe one.

After I completed this page of my son playing in his uncle's wheat field i felt inclined to do a co-ordinating page to finish the story of that evening.

There is a new feature at Get It Scrapped that Debbie Hodge is posting called Double Up. There she gives a sketch and some inspiring examples. Be sure to check this out!

There are also some scrapbookers that come to mind that are great at making double page sets. Check out their gallery's for more inspiration!

Colour Inspiration No. 05

Hello its kayleigh! Well isn't this a long overdue post from me? We were away on vacation with Eric's whole family at a cottage on the lake. We were told that there was internet there ...there was but you had to be sitting close to their office & be veeerrrryyyy patient. I tried to download something that may take a minute here and there an hour and half! But i did get some scrapping done, lots of beach time, good meals and lots of family time. Oh and the highlight for me: kicking my brother in laws *beep* at bowling on the the Wii bowling during our family tournament.

Then unfortunatly when we got home Makenna was sick with a double ear infection and we struggled to get back in the routine of home with regular naps and bedtimes. And i was also working like crazy to meet a deadline for a little something-something i am working on online. Thats all the hints i am giving you and will tell you soon - when i can! :)

Anyways today i bring you a colour challenge, its been awhile so i thought that we were due for one. Not going to lie the page started this challenge. This colour scheme is refreshing with a hint of girly or it could be over the top girly. Remember you can mix up the amounts of colour on your page to work for you. And you can always change the colours saturation to work as well. And if you don't have specific photos that come to mind to work with the scheme you could always try black and white or sephia.

On my photos i used a photoshop action from pioneer woman called seventies. I wanted to make the page look kinda "vintagey" (ya i made that word up!) so i thought this action worked well.

Here is the inspiration piece this week by anxela. I love the design here!! Awesome page.

This is my page that i created of my sister, Kim. I wanted to have fun & make a random list of info about her. I am really loving layering stitching with different colours, thankfully Anna has some great multi-coloured sets in the store. I swapped the patterned paper on the horizontal strip to the background paper for a different look.

I love how Bailey changed up the one horizontal photo to 3 vertical photos. Isn't her daughter adorable with her sass!?

Here are some of my favourite pages that i have found recently in the gallery at Designer Digitals and wanted to share them with you. Enjoy the inspiration on this Thursday. It is crazy hot here in Ontario so we have been spending lots of time poolside this week. Hopefully the heat wave will end by Saturday when we are having Spencer's 3rd birthday party. I am still in denial that he is going to be THREE! Where has the time gone. Before i know it i will be saying 16?! When did that happen!? Anyways here's to the inspiration for this week!

This is a page that Melissa Hill created based on my creative inspiration challenge i posted this week. I am so happy she found her mojo because i am loving having her pages in the gallery! Way to go Mel!! :)

I am a huge fan of scallops and i love how Adryane used this one on her page here. I really like how she used the same paper on the scallop and then echoed that with the thin border of it as well. And that raffia bow rocks here.

Speaking of miss talent Adryane, you must check out her gallery further for art masterpieces that she creates like this one. She was even kind enough to explain her process to us in the forum at DD.

This page has so much strong impact with just a few products. Love the spot colouring on the photo here. Awesome page Jana Morton!

I really like this page by Deanie - i love the design here & the colours allow the photo to shine! I like the fun loop swirl added to the background too.

I am in love with the look of this cover with casbury. The vintage photos with the neat elements tucked in are awesome. I love that the elements go with the Vegas theme.

Copy Cat Challenge No. 56

We are in full swing of summer around here. Eating breakfast on the porch, playing outside lots, playdates with the neighbours, BBQ's & swimming lots as well. After dinner tonight we even went for a quick dip at Eric's parents. The pool was really warm - which is a good thing for me! How is your summer going? (maybe that is something you could document on a page!?)

The page I bring you as inspiration is beautiful in it’s simplicity that was created by wombat146. The photo is beautiful & the paper works perfectly with it. I really love the stitching on the frame & the tiny dots along the photo. The mix of fonts is a nice touch. There are lots of jumping points that you can take from this page.

The page i created may look nothing like the inspiration page, but that is the fun with using a layout as a starting point. I really liked the long rectangular photo, the cluster in the bottom right & the mix of fonts. I ended up using one alpha, with a scripty font & then i used a different one for my journaling. I also really liked the brushwork as well. I added various layers of brushes & created a sun with some brushes also.

Creative Challenge #53

Life has been busy ... but isn't it always!? I feel like i say this as a start to every post. We had so much fun at my cousin's wedding this weekend. They had a photo booth which was such a fun idea. My cousin said that our table was either going to be the table she kept her eye on all night or wanted to join in. After rigging up a empty 2nd centerpiece as a giant glass we were the table she (and many others, i might add!) wanted to join! Here is a photo of my sister, my mom & I at the wedding. Somehow we coordinated our outfits as well!

Today we were out boating with Eric's parents which was so much fun as well. We definitely need to head to the lake more often. Today was so beautiful, we have had some really nice days here in Ontario lately.

Anyways for this weeks challenge ... think threes. You can choose any of the 3 to feature on your page. (Or more if you want or any other item of 3 you would like!)

* 3 types of stitching
* 3 photos
* 3 pieces of paper
* 3 flowers
* 3 buttons (or any fastener)
* 3 types of alphas
* 3 word title

Creative Challenge #52

Well it's been a while since we've done a Creative Challenge, so when I was making this layout, I thought it was the perfect page to make a Creative Challenge from. There are two challenges 1. Create a monogram or some other embellishment by using buttons. See how I made the "R" out of buttons, it definitely creates a focal point in the layout. 2. Use a pattern paper as your background. You can see I posted my layout twice. The first one is my final result and the second one shows you that the pattern paper was a little overpowering, just by changing the opacity, I made the pattern paper work without taking away from the design. What I did was put white cardstock behind the pattern paper so when I change the opacity on the pattern, you can see some of the white go through. I hope this gets you inspired to create a page or just play around with buttons and pattern papers. I want to wish our very own Kayleigh a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! This page by KathyJ is so cool because the design of it allows for lots of paper pieces. I love incorporating patterned paper into my pages & this is a cool idea. You will have to click on the image below to get the link to the page she lifted of fellow CT member Stacy to be doubley inspired!

This page is amazing by Cindy (aka cderousseau). She has such a way of creating art each time she makes a page. This page that she made to represent the missing photos is such a cool representation. I also really love her mix of fonts too.

These photos have so much energy & the bright colours she used her on this page add to that feeling. The bits of brushwork add a nice softness to the page as well. Great page susieq2u!

This is a lift for Tara's last copy cat challenge & it is adorable!! This flowers add such a whimsical fun touch.

I really like the design of this page with the block of solid paper with the patterned paper in behind. I like the flowers clustered & then scattered about as well. Awesome page Kelleanne!

Check out the layers of ribbons, papers & leaves stacked up onto one another. So interesting to look at isn't it? I also love how their is lots of journaling on this page too & it is nicely placed here too.

I am really into rounded corners right now & this page by Jacinda just jumped right out at me. I really like how the elements all go with the theme of the page so nicely.

Fave Products Right Now

I am sorry for my lack of motivation with posting here at the blog. Life has been busy as usual. Makenna was really sick last week with a bacterial infection but is doing much much better now. We are working on seriously potty training Spencer. He is getting it but is sometimes still wanting to put a diaper on which causes meltdowns. I have been busy this last week or so putting together some pages for CK's recent calls that are ending today. I completed 4 pages & it was so hard to submit them instead of posting to the gallery to share with all of you. There is one i did with some photos of Spencer & Makenna where Spencer gave his little sister a big smooch. This page is adorable!!

I thought i would share some of my favourite products right now with you. Maybe you might find it interesting.

I can't wait to use these frames. I have seen so many cool uses of them. If you click on the image, you can see the ones that are used in the store.

I love this alpha by Katie right now, and she even has a lower case version coming this weekend with symbols too.

I love the golden feel to this graphic paper by Michelle Martin. Love the mix of patterns & the monochromatic scheme. (Maybe i used this page on one of my submitted pages!)

This kit by Lynn is one of my favourites ... the colours, the pattern mix, those ribbons are fun & the alpha is fantastic!

This alpha by Katie is so much fun - it just screams beach & summer to me. I still have photos from last summer i need to scrap.

I love layering these overlays on the edges of my page to finish it off.

Creative Challenge #51

My baby girl 'kenna turned one yesterday. We had a big party with lots of friends & family (including Tara & Addi), she got spoiled rotten & ate some icing, not much cake got in. We took so many photos between my FIL (grandpa paparazzi i call him) & my camera - over 350 photos. Oh gosh. How overwhelming is that? YIKES! That could be a whole book, not just a double pager for her 1st year book. Please wish me luck & stay tuned for the pages.

Today's challenge is a fun one (well aren't they all!?) I am challenging you to use a big symbol ... ie, & * ( } + = # @ ? < ... but you have to make it BIG on your page, see my example below where i used a big acrylic & symbol.

Colour Inspiration No. 04

Today i bring you some inspiration with a fresh colour scheme to get your mojo going. I have been a huge fan of teal blue & limey green for ages (two of the colours in Makenna's room) so i thought it would be a great pallette.

Here is the page i posted earlier today. This new kit of Katie's is ADORABLE, its called On the Go & is coming this weekend to the store! I dug up these photos of Spencer so i could use this kit.

I pulled up some products in the designer digitals store that jumped into my mind when i thought of this colour scheme.

As soon as i spotted this page at gallery standouts i knew i had to lift it. Finally today i had a chance to get this page going. There are so many things that i love about this page. I love the white space & the impact that it adds to the grouping. I love the interest the dot paper adds to the page. The simple journaling. The wash behind the photo injects a touch of softness into the hard lines of the main design. The simple date. All adds up to a masterpiece to me.

I am totally in love with these new quick pages that i created using Katie's wonderful products. I love the whimsy, colourfulness & design of these pages.

Hi everyone! Sorry we haven't posted in a while, life has been a little busy and my creative mojo has been on the low side. I hate when that happens :( We've been keeping busy going for walks, hanging out with friends and I have been working on a special gift for Addison for her first birthday. Man can you believe in the next month or so she is going to be 1! WOW! I really don't know where the time has gone. I'm going to miss her terribly when I go back to work. Hello everyone, I'm a little under the weather today, but on the weekend I fell in love with a colour combo and I just had to do a layout using these colours. I was searching the Gap Clothing website looking for clothes for Addison, when I came across this collection. The collection also was calling me because it is the same name as the city I live in! My New Fave Page ...

Ever finish a page & sit back to look at it, then think "I am an awesome scrapbooker, i love this page!" (I hope you do!) I think i like this page so much because it feels different than my pages lately. I remembered that so many of you have asked to know how Tara & I scrapbook, so i thought i would say a few words about this page.

I added lots of dimension with shadows to add a nice interest. Notice how the photos really look like they are popping off the page. I like a page that has a tight grouping & allows for lots of negative space. The frame holds the grouping all together. The cool shadow on the white frame came right with it, Katie did all the work on that one. An idea to try is layering the different colours of stitching like i did with the brown & white ones. Notice the visual triangle with the turquoise flossy stitches, also the red elements. The grouping set to right side takes dominance over the other ones. If all the groupings were really busy then your eye wouldn't know what to focus on.

Happy Easter weekend to all, hope you are having some nice warm weather like we are here in Ontario & get to enjoy some time with family. It is so nice outside i actually wore shorts & flip flops yesterday ... it's April!! Wow! Today i bring you some inspiration from the galleries to get your mojo going. Looking at all these talented artists pages makes me want to scrapbook.

I couldn't resist sharing this stunning page by canadianmommy. The bright colours against the craft paper work so well & i love how the stitched circles add a nice movement to reinforce the theme here.

I just love what Bailey (Starlite9711) created for her daughter, talk about stunning & so so inspiring. I might try this, it looks like fun to create.

Love this tight design by emmasmom & the shadows are so great here!

This page Nath created for my last Creative Challenge here on the blog & i think her result is pretty stinkin' awesome. Love the title that fits into the grouping partially, the mix of papers & elements ... beautiful.

I love this page by dawnsouthard. The template that she used is perfect for adding paper or photos mixed with the journaling. Love the refreshing colour scheme too! Join in Stephs All About Me challenge this week like this artist did to create a page based on what you are good at.

I love this design by JenniferBarrette with that large long flower & the cool striped paper for the background. Looks great!

This page is cute!! Love the black & white photos with the bright colours & layers of ribbons, word strips & buttons. I love the title too, h is for... Wonderful page GemmaC!

I have fallen in love with this adorable face & page. Seriously, how adorable is that photo!? What sweet eyes, love the black & white conversion. Love the simple design with layers of papers. Great page misfitinmn!

Creative Challenge #50

We are winding down from a busy weekend & Monday here at our household. It is time for bedtimes to return to normal. Have dinner at home, then have baths & jammies - you know the normal routine. I actually didn't take many photos this weekend even though we did so much with friends & family. I tried to be in the moment as they were coming along instead of trying to get that perfect photo. Anyone else get like this every once in awhile?

Today i bring you some prompts. I hope this list of requirements for a page spark your creativity on your next page. Don't forget to link us up!

• At least 8 squares or rectangles filled with paper or photos
• Flower with a brad, button or screw in the centre
• Piece of cardboard
• A monogram

Here is the page i created using this list. Hard to believe my baby girl is so close to being a year old already. She is such a sweet girl & we are so lucky to have her as part of our family.

Creative Challenge #49

Hello - it's Kayleigh! Hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine weather in your neck of the woods. We have had some awesome weather these days with 15+ highs. (Snow is no longer welcome here!) We have battled some sickness here at the Wiles household this past week & are all thankfully feeling better. Thank goodness, its really no fun when both parents are sick & both kids are under the weather as well.

Today i bring you some inspiration from my own gallery, i had fun gathering up pages that i did ages ago & one i did just for this challenge. So your challenge is simple: Create a title out of a stamped alphabet. You can try playing with the blending modes & opacity to make the texture of the paper show through or you could leave them solid for a 'thick paint' look as well.

This is the page i created for this challenge. I am working through some older photo sets that i have been avoided because of the number of them. Count 'em up girls there are 11 photos on this page! Love this new tall alpha by Katie on this page.

On this page below i used the stamped alpha to it's full opacity.

On this page i added a stroke to the outside of the alpha & then added a shadow to make it look more like a sticker.

On this page i played with different colours to add more interest to the title ... pretty sure i changed the blending mode as well.

Sigh ... Can't wait to get to the beach this year ...

Copy Cat Challenge #49

I had to lift this page of Tara's when i saw it - i loved the design, the bit of brushwork, the journaling in between the blocks, the texture of the background, the little screws holding down the photo. OK everything about it! I like the idea of showcasing one special photo. (Especially after i have just completed a bunch of multi photo pages, 9 out of 12 have 7 or more photos!)

Creative Challenge #48

This time around i challenge you to create a rectangular photo block. You can mix up the spots with paper & photos for visual interest or even integrate your journaling or title work into the grouping. Have a look at the examples below for some more inspiration.

Love this example by Amber - the circle on the right side of the grouping adds a nice interest. (Plus this page is a template by Pattie Knox!)

This rectangular grouping has lots of visual interest. I love the mix Renee created of paper & photos with the little details added here & there.

Katrina completed this page is 30 minutes from one of Cassie's chats! WTG girl! I love the series of photos placed behind the frame.

This page by michelleL incorporates lots of paper & then allows the focus on her special photo. Such a fun, playful page.

This page by Paula has such a nice balance to it, the pink paper in the background nicely shows off the grouping of photos. Beautifully done!

Here is the page i created based on this challenge. I had lots of photos to use (which i always find overwhelming!) I originally started this page making it two pages, but i changed my mind & put the two groupings together onto one page to create the tight grouping.

It's sunny and nice out! I'm loving it even though I'm inside cleaning : ) It just feels like SPRING! Here are my favorite photos for the month of February. I'm so HAPPY I'm doing the Photo a Day. Our fellow Creative Team member Bonnie has suddenly passed away. The news still doesn't seem real & we are all in complete shock. She just began a new lease on life with love, beautiful grandchildren & the opportunity to enjoy her recent retirement. She has left her family a legacy with the pages that she has created. Please take a few minutes & visit her gallery. Such a strong reminder to all of us as scrappers that what we are doing by capturing our thoughts & feelings on pages is such a treasure to the ones around us once we pass on not just art.
