Creative Challenge #45: What's in there??

So it seems every now and then I come across a challenge to share the contents of your purse, or your refrigerator, etc. I always think it would be neat to do but have never jumped in and completed a page. With project 365 I figured it would be neat to document this kind of thing! So I challenge you...share with us the contents of something RIGHT NOW.

Inject Pattern

The other day i went through my pages for makenna's 1st book so far & noticed lots of simlilarities. They are mostly neutral backgrounds with bits of colour and patterned paper here & there. Which isn't a bad thing but i felt my pages needed some pop & variance. There was one page that stood out to me of finished pages is this one called Chit Chat Girl. The bold background makes this page special.

So i decided that i want to inject life (aka colour) into my pages more often this year. Not that there is anything wrong with neutrals, they work for most photos but occasionally when the photos allow I'm going to strive to inject more colour & pattern. So with this new goal i created this page called Girlie Girl. I fell in love with that new paper by Katie!

Here are some other pages i found in the gallery at DD to help inspire you & me. I had fun digging through my faves for some older ones for you. For each of the pages, try to envision them with a plain white or beige. I can't imagine them without these fun papers & the extra pop of colour/ pattern works great.

A Photo A Day: Part 2

Okay, so we are now into the fourth week of January and I promised myself I would take a photo a day. I can't believe how hard it is. I'm glad I didn't promise myself to actually complete a scrapbooked Shutterfly book : ) I don't think it would've got it done. I was doing so well until life got busy. As you know we just got our new house and you would think I'd take a ton of photos, well it hasn't been the case. I hardly find the time to pick up my camera. Well I can say I haven't failed yet, but some of the photos are not as good as I would like them to be. (not very artistic, example, microwave photo) I promise to make a better effort next week. I probably should take a big bow, but I am pretty short so then you wouldn't notice me. I will instead get up on a box and say.... thank you so much Kayleigh, Tara and Bailey for asking me to guestblog at one of the most inspirational sites within the digital scrapbooking world!
It is a great honor to be invited by three of my favorite scrappers. I was thinking to step in from the sideline now and then and give you all a little challenge, a little inspiration from my perspective.

Today I want to talk templates. They are such a versatile tool to jump-start a tired mojo, to get the creative juices started, to quickly work those photos and stories.
At Designer Digitals there is a multitude of templates - in all styles - so you are sure to find something that can suit your style.

Here is what I like to to do: I like to mix it up. Templates also.
I used this template by Ali Edwards:



In my example below, I shrunk it, turned it and moved a couple of elements around and some I left out - and voila - you have a page done in no time. And it is fun!
So here is my challenge today - grab yourself a template and mix it up a little: turn it, shrink it, shake it and twist it - and see what you come up with!

Copy Cat Challenge #44

Good afternoon! How is everyone doing on this fine Thursday? I so wish it was Friday :) Tomorrow we get our NEW house. Very exciting. We have a lot to do ... Packing, Cleaning, Painting, Moving, Cleaning and Unpacking. We are looking forward to it though. I love organizing a new place. I'm a little worried about the move with Addison and the cats. The cats have only ever been in this house. I'm sure it will be weird for all of us, but I'm sure we will adjust. So today I'm bringing you a layout by Joshi_82. Colour Challenge

Colour. I love it. I have yellow walls on my mainfloor. My kitchen is green. My clothes are sorted in my closet based on their colour. I have bought yellow shirts just so i could complete the rainbow in my closet with the intentions of wearing them, but yellow is not my colour.

For this challenge I am inspiring you to create a page with a neutral background with a focus on 1 colour. You can use various shades of that colour & your background could be white, black, gray, kraft … you know what i mean.

Here is my page that I created using this focus. (I just love these new tight jammies from old navy that my mom got for Spencer. Love that style!)

This one is by our very own Bailey. I love the combo of yellow & gray plus that dot brush in the background adds such a cool impact.


I just love Brittany's style & fell in love with this one. Check out this cool page design & how she used the stitching as an outline to complete the grouping.

Love You Quick Pages!

Yes my friends, there are more quick pages available! These pages are designed by me using Katie Pertiet's products. I am so happy to share these pages with you all! I adore the way these pages turned out & can't wait to see them pop up in the galleries. These pages would make a great valentine or anniversary book. But i could see them used for a baby girl book or an all about you book. Lots of options! These pages are png files, so you could always add your own touches on top of them or cover up parts if you needed. Be sure to check them out!

A Photo A Day

I've enjoyed seeing everyone's 365 Projects of 2009 and after the birth of my daughter I so wished I had taken part. So starting January 1st, I've decided to take a photo a day. I'm not sure If I will have the time to scrap them or not, but I still wanted to try to take a photo every day. It takes a lot of work to complete a 365 Project and I'm sure those who completed one are so HAPPY with the results. Then & Now

Every once in awhile i get all pumped up about getting published in magazines & search out for calls. And then other times i could care less about having my work in magazines. When i found a call at Creating Keepsakes about pages with the subject matter Then & Now, I created this page to submit... and that was 2 months ago, so i am thinking they don't want it. I love the look of this page & had such a hard time not posting it once it was done.



Looking at where you were at & where you are now is soothing for the soul. (At least it was for me, when i created this page.) I thought this (being the start to a new year) is a good time to be reflective about life & time passing by. How is your life different from a few years ago? How has your appearance changed? What about the home you live in? Of course there is always your kids.
